What GridBeater is
GridBeater is a free solar bill analysis tool. You upload your electricity bill, we extract your usage data using AI, and we show you an estimate of what solar could save on your home or business. You can then choose to request a quote from The Wattage.
GridBeater is a lead generation tool operated by a solar installation business. We're not an independent comparison service or financial adviser.
The estimates are indicative only
GridBeater's solar ROI estimates are indicative only. They are not a guarantee, a quote, or financial advice.
Our estimates are based on:
- The data extracted from your electricity bill
- BOM solar irradiance data for your postcode
- Current Small-scale Technology Certificate (STC) pricing as at Q1 2026
- 4.5% annual tariff escalation (AER long-term historical average — short-term movements may differ)
- Self-consumption modelled from your home profile
- Feed-in tariff capped at 1¢/kWh for conservatism
- System cost estimated at market-average installed price for your area
Actual solar performance depends on your specific roof, shading, system quality, installer, usage patterns, future tariff movements, and other factors we cannot control. A proper solar quote from a CEC-accredited installer is required before making any purchasing decision.
Not financial advice
Nothing on GridBeater constitutes financial advice. We are not licensed financial advisers. Our estimates are general information only — they don't take into account your personal financial situation, objectives, or needs.
Before making a decision about solar, you should consider whether the information is appropriate for your circumstances and, if necessary, seek advice from a qualified financial adviser.
Your bill is yours to share
By uploading a bill, you confirm that:
- The bill belongs to you or you have the authority to share it on behalf of the account holder
- You are not uploading someone else's bill without their knowledge
- The information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge
We're not responsible for errors or inaccurate results caused by incorrect or incomplete bill data.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, The Wattage Pty Ltd is not liable for any loss or damage — direct, indirect, or consequential — arising from your use of GridBeater or reliance on any estimate produced by it.
GridBeater is provided "as is" without any warranty, express or implied. We don't guarantee that the service will be available at all times, error-free, or that the AI extraction will be perfectly accurate on every bill format.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
How we use your data
Our full data practices are in our Privacy Policy. In summary: your bill is used to calculate your solar ROI, your contact details are used to send you your result and any quotes you request, and anonymised data may be shared with energy partners. We don't sell your personal information.
Referrals and commissions
GridBeater may earn referral fees when we connect you with solar installers, energy comparison services, or other energy-related businesses. When this applies, we'll tell you at the point of referral. These arrangements don't affect what you pay.
What you can't do
When using GridBeater, you agree not to:
- Upload bills that aren't yours or that you don't have authority to share
- Scrape, copy, or systematically extract content or data from GridBeater
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to access our source code
- Use GridBeater for any unlawful purpose or in a way that violates any person's rights
- Attempt to bypass any security or rate-limiting measures

Your bill and the data extracted from it remain yours. By uploading, you grant us a limited licence to use that data to provide the service and, in anonymised form, as described in our Privacy Policy.
We can refuse or suspend access
We reserve the right to refuse, suspend, or terminate access to GridBeater at any time, for any reason, without notice. This includes but is not limited to suspected misuse, abuse of the service, or uploads of fraudulent or third-party bills.
